Vehicles arrive at Sydney City HotelHunter Valley Gardens

8.00AM
This morning we collect you at your Sydney accommodation and departing the city, we travel north over the Sydney Harbour Bridge via the Gore Hill Freeway to join the Pacific Highway and then the F3 Freeway. We will travel directly to the Hunter Valley Gardens.

10.30AM
We arrive at the spectacular Hunter Valley Gardens. Designed with sight, colour and fragrance very much in mind.

The Hunter Valley Gardens was created by Bill Roche who along with his wife Imelda and family, form the Australian-owned company Roche Group.

The entire Hunter Valley Gardens property spans over 100 hectares with the central heart and soul being the Gardens themselves – Bill Roche’s vision.

The redevelopment of the site took place between 1998 and 2003 during which time over 800,000 cubic metres of soil had to be moved and 100,000 cubic metres of topsoil added to create the wonderful “hidden” gardens that you see today.

The twelve themed gardens developed within the 25-hectare site allow visitors to enjoy “a trip around the world” just by visiting the gardens. Over 8km of pathways meander throughout the grounds and more than 100 kilometres of irrigation piping has been installed underground.

Over the 5 years of development over 6,000 trees, 600,000 shrubs and 1,000,000 ground covers have been planted with many more on the way.

On arrival we enjoy morning tea before departing with our Horticulturalist Guides for a 1 hour guided walk of the Hunter Valley Gardens. Your guides will provide you with full description of the plants, birdlife and history behind the gardens.

At the conclusion of our informative walk, the group will arrive at the chosen venue within the gardens for our GOURMET WINE AND DINE LUNCH experience.

In this exquisite setting, you will enjoy a private Wine Tasting of Roche Tallawanta Wines. Encapsulating the true elegance and charm of Hunter wine styles, the vines of the Tallawanta Vineyard date back to the early 1890s and produce the award-winning Roche Tallawanta Shiraz.

Continuously creating outstanding fruit each year, the vines are dry land grown, thus ensuring low yields and high quality fruit. Enjoy tastings including Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnays.

With our wine tasting concluded, we will enjoy canapés and sparkling wines whilst our talented chef prepares our sumptuous 3 course lunch. A glass of Hunter Wines accompanies each course.

Replete from our lunch, it is time to depart the Gardens and visit one of the many boutique wineries in the Hunter Valley, to sample further wines from this award winning region.

Departing from the Hunter Valley, we commence our return to Sydney via the Freeway to arrive at your hotel at approximately 5.00 – 5.30pm.
